Program Summary
APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN FOR OUR HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT TRAINING PROGRAM WITH THE SANTA CATALINA ISLAND COMPANY - START DATES IN SUMMER 2019!


The Santa Catalina Island Company J-1 Intern and Training Program provides university students and young professionals with the opportunity to train in the United States for a period of up to 12 months. The program provides on-the-job training exposure in either Hospitality Management or Culinary, allowing you to explore and train in multiple areas within this role.
SCICo’s expedition operator also boasts a menu of over 25 outdoor adventures designed to introduce visitors to the island’s rich history, wildlife and backcountry, including expeditions and tours such as the Zip Line Eco Tour, Eco Hummer Tour, Dolphin Quest, Sea Trek and many others. Other activities include hiking, bicycling, fishing, boating, kayaking, snorkeling, golfing or relaxing on the beach. TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS PROGRAM AS A J-1 INTERN, YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
- Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
- Speak fluent English.
- Be available for a 12-month contract.
- Be currently enrolled in full-time education at a University outside of the United States.
- Studying towards an undergraduate degree in a Tourism, Hospitality or Events related subject OR have graduated from these studies no more than 12 months prior to your program start date.
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS PROGRAM AS A J-1 TRAINEE, YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
- Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
- Speak fluent English.
- Be available for a 12-month contract.
- Be a graduate from an undergraduate degree in a Tourism, Hospitality or Events related subject PLUS at least one year of related work experience in this industry. This experience must have been obtained outside of the United States.
- If you have not studied at University level, you must have at least five-years work experience in the tourism/hospitality industry to qualify. This experience must have been obtained outside of the United States.
APPLICATION DATES
- Applications for the Santa Catalina Island Company program for 2020 are open.
- Applicants are required to be available for a full 12-month contract in order to be considered.
- We are currently recruiting for a start date in Summer 2020.
INTERVIEWING PROCESS
- Pre-screen interviews with the Yummy Jobs Team will take place via Skype. Applicants will be required to attend an interview with a member of the Yummy Jobs Team in order to be considered.
- If successful, applicants will then be invited to a final interview with a member of the Santa Catalina Team via Skype.
Participants on the Santa Catalina Hospitality Management Training Program will be required to submit the following fees (after acceptance of an offer):
PROGRAM FEE
£2,250.00 GBP - 6-month full Placement Program Fee inclusive of Visa Sponsorship, Medical Insurance, U.S SEVIS Fee, Pre-arrival Support and Pre-arranged Job.
£2,750.00 GBP - 12-month full Placement Program Fee inclusive of Visa Sponsorship, Medical Insurance, U.S SEVIS Fee, Pre-arrival Support and Pre-arranged Job.
ADDITIONAL FEES FOR 2019/2020
- U.S. Embassy appointment fee = $160.00 USD
- Return flight to the United States = Varies
POST ARRIVAL FEES
- Additional supporting funds between $350.00 - $750.00 USD are recommended
